January 2001 1 New Years Day 16 Monthly club meeting at New Hanover Hospital - AHEC building February 2001 10 VEC testing at UNCW 10 AM , Morton Hall. 10 Girl Scout weekend on the Battleship USS North Carolina. 20 Monthly club meeting ( Program by Dwight - K4YNY "Solving Problems In and Around the Ham Shack" Outline in pdf format). Show and tell by Jeff - KE4LKB on Yaesu FT-817. Great meet for all those that have attended. 24 NC QSO party aboard the Battleship USS North Carolina (Saturday Only). Time of operation will be for 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Breakfast meeting at K&W at 7:00 AM. Meet at battleship at 8:00 AM to get ready for operations. The club will use the original radio room and antennas in conjunction with the clubs new ICOM IC-746. Talk-in on the 147.180 repeater. Come out, bring the family and show your support. I know you will learn something that could save a life. 9 VEC testing at UNCW 10 AM , Morton Hall 9 Battleship Alive 2001 aboard USS North Carolina. Club Station will operate as special event in support of activities (times of operations to be determined).
19 Monthly club Dinner meeting at McAllister's Restaurant. Dinner at 7:00 PM followed by Field Day final planning. Plan to eat a GREAT dinner and help with the Field Day planning . This was a great success for 34 in attendance. Final planning was made for Field Day. 21 Bill Marine - N2COP will be on WWAY-TV 3's Good Morning Carolina between 6-7AM to talk about amateur radio and Field Day. Weather permitting, a broadcast will be conducted from the parking lot. Contact on VHF and HF will be made live with time and conditions permitting. 22 Bill Marine - N2COP will be on WAAV's (980Khz AM) Newsmakers segment at 6:45 AM to talk about amateur radio and Field Day. 23-24 ACARC Field Day 2001 at USS North Carolina Gazebo. HF station, QRP station and VHF/UHF station. A fun time for all. If you would like to operate the club station during field day between 2PM on Saturday and 2PM on Sunday please e-mail Bill - KG4KDR. July 2001 17 Monthly club meeting at New Hanover Hospital in room C - AHEC building. A special presentation by Paul AD4HZ on 6 meter antennas. Rag Chews start at 7:00 PM with meeting starting at 7:30 PM, Plan to attend. Great meeting with 24 in attendance. 21-22 Museum of ships with USS North Carolina operations (note: date correction). The museum ships weekend event is sponsored by the USS SALEM RADIO CLUB. Another source of general information "Ships of the U.S. Navy, 1940-1945" You could contact Battleships, Aircraft Carriers, Cruisers, Destroyers, Destroyer Escorts, Submarines, Coast Guard Cutters, Minesweepers, Surveyors, Freighters, Frigates, Liberty Ships, Merchant Ships, Victory Ships, Lightships, Tugboats, Research Ships, Passenger Ferry's, Sternwheelers and Paddle Steamers. What would you like to work this weekend? Had 5 operators come over for the museum of ships and made 289 contacts in about 12 hours . We contacted 6 of the old ships. Many thanks to Carl - KC8BQT, Clarence - KB4AKH, Vince - K2GDD and Amy - KA2NCT for there hard work. The team of Vince and Amy worked all day Sunday by there self's to keep the ship on the air. September 2001 18 Monthly club Dinner meeting at McAllister's Restaurant 7:00 PM. Great meeting with 26 in attendance. Program was by Bill-N2WG and the new young hams in the area. A great time for all that attended. October 2001 13 VEC testing at UNCW 10 AM , Morton Hall 16 Monthly club meeting at New Hanover Hospital - AHEC building. Rag Chews start at 7:00 PM with meeting starting at 7:30 PM, Plan to attend. 19-21 Boy Scouts JOTA, Lake Waccamaw, Boys and Girls Club (N2COP-Bill). Also Boiling Springs lakes Girl Scouts (N2WG-Bill). Great time to get scout interested in amateur radio. As much help for as possible is needed.
