Download Application for Amateur Operator License If you hold any form of a license issued by the FCC (for
example, an Amateur Radio license or a Marine Radio license), you
have been assigned an FRN and you must identify yourself by that
FRN in all dealings with the FCC. If you have an FRN, you may not
ID with your SSN.
If you hold such an FCC license, your FRN can generally be
found on the license itself.
In short, only an applicant for an entry level (Technician
Class) Amateur Radio license who holds no other FCC issued license
should ID with the SSN.
